More than a wall flower and less than living for the applause, (no dis to Gaga) there is a place of recognized exposure. A nice place.

Talk Dirty To Me

December 19, 2013 by nycredhead2021

I wouldn’t say I’m dirty but I don’t bathe everyday, nor do I wash or scrub my face (with soap) daily and definitely only wash my hair two or maybe three times a week. I don’t stink, I don’t think, but I do brush my teeth everyday. I was never overly clean but now dirty is a conscious choice. I want the natural oils of my skin and hair to remain as a healthy barrier that protects me from the […]

Red Lips Rock! Amanda Tate

December 17, 2013 by nycredhead2021

It all begins with the belief in yourself and your uniqueness. As you find that this is reflected and confirmed by the world around you, your confidence is fed, making it easier for you to reach your goals. This is the law of attraction at work. We create what we believe and draw it to us at the same time. The Red Lips Revelation!! Wear red lips around the clock for ten days, to work, school, the mall, food shopping, […]

Electric lady land

December 17, 2013 by nycredhead2021

Energy is everything. Basic, but true. It allows us to live, to move, it motivates us to learn, pushes us to excel, inspires us to love, initiates excellence, helps us run our bodies, minds, hearts and brains. Energy connects us all, both literally and, I believe, spiritually. With the right intention, energy heals. I truly believe that our brain is the most powerful energy tool we have and that changing a thought can change your body and all parts of […]

ROCK THAT RED!!

December 16, 2013 by nycredhead2021

Red – as a color – says assertive, confident, passionate, strong, spontaneous, sexy. And yet many women choose to wear clear gloss or nothing at all on their lips. Are they shy, intimidated, afraid or maybe uninterested in beauty altogether? All are valid, all are real. Red lipstick can be daunting if you’ve never worn it, but when you find the right shade for yourself, be prepared to get some big attention and to face the world with attitude and […]

Ready for My Close-up

December 11, 2013 by nycredhead2021

Who wants the spotlight? Who has the nerve to grab our attention and say, I am going to change your day just by hearing about me? Crystal Clear – Not On the first Tuesday of December 2013, I will have known my husband for fifteen years. We don’t remember the date; we just know it was a Tuesday. I had been single for three years, just futzing around with a few not-serious dudes since the last thought-you-were-the-one had imploded and […]

R.I.P.

December 11, 2013 by nycredhead2021

Death, dying, is a painful subject, yet so many have a clear, precise, sometimes carried out and many times squelched or ignored, list of wishes about their own passing. Cremation, cemetery, head stone, commemorative plaque, park bench, road naming, foundation… There are many ways to be remembered and tons of interesting reasons why one might choose that ritual. I come from a family of writers and artists and was always taught that the work you leave behind is your mark, […]

Hump Day

December 11, 2013 by nycredhead2021

I recently watched a morning chat show where they threw out the question, “Do you still fit into your wedding dress?” They then went on to promote some new green coffee or caveman diet, so you could. Well, I was compelled by Hoda or Barbara or Lara or someone, to go to the top shelf of my closet and fetch my gown… and put it on. Not bad. Six years later it still fit and I still adore it. My […]

That Girl

December 11, 2013 by nycredhead2021

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. I don’t have children, I have nieces. But I do have friends with kids and I myself am a bit of an overgrown teenager. My nieces thought I was in my twenties until a few years ago. (I kid you not) Maybe it’s because I wear empire dresses like I did when I was seven, only now over jeans or leggings. […]

The Frontlines

October 31, 2013 by nycredhead2021

I went to Beauty School a number of years ago, an experience that changed my life in many ways. Not so much the learning – I had professional mentors and private classes – but more the ladies I met and the down dirty life lessons on judging others and feeling New York superior and artsy fartsy smarty pants that all melted away in those seven months of urban vocational lock-down. I came to know gutsy, smart, sexy, strong women that […]
