I went to Beauty School a number of years ago, an experience that changed my life in many ways.
Not so much the learning – I had professional mentors and private classes – but more the ladies I met and the down dirty life lessons on judging others and feeling New York superior and artsy fartsy smarty pants that all melted away in those seven months of urban vocational lock-down. I came to know gutsy, smart, sexy, strong women that were all taking huge risks to change their existence and better themselves by joining the ranks of the beauty profession.
For years afterward I worked in different salons and privately, always wanting to offer my customized form of healing and beautifying, but it wasn’t until I found Angel’s Sublime Eyes on Sunset in Hollywood that I felt a sense of ease. It’s a fun and specialized salon, mostly concentrating on artistic threading and lash extensions. I am the facial godmother there and we have a blast. We all love nurturing and empowering our clients to look their absolute best, but we also tell it like it is.
That’s right, straight from the trenches of daily life at a Hollywood beauty salon on the Sunset strip. Skincare, brows, hair removal, Lalala LASHES – very important stuff.
