Aint it Good to Know

August 2, 2014 by nycredhead2021

How many friends do you have? Likes, views, hits, followers? Is social media really a community, or just a false sense of belonging? And is the F (riend) word being tossed around like just another casual acquaintance? Its 2:30 on Friday in West Hollywood and my car is making a weird clicking noise, so I’m stopping at the gas station for help. I get a text. It’s my new facebook friend-of-a-friend, I’ll call her Christina, saying how she needs me […]

Mercury in retrograde

June 13, 2014 by nycredhead2021

I’ve heard about Mercury going into retrograde for years now. It’s a nice way to blame the fuck ups of life on something large. Bigger than how disorganized I may be, or forgetful, or uncommunicative, or cranky. If it’s Mercury’s fault – it’s all good. This week, yes, Mercury is in retrograde and its been weird. I’ve heard about serious car accidents, had many cancelled appointments, a sick cat that wouldn’t eat about ten different food choices, the mover that […]

Get into the groove

June 1, 2014 by nycredhead2021

Madonna haunts me. When I worked at the Hard Rock Café in the 80’s they played her nonstop and I feel like, ever since then, she’s inside me somehow. I go into stores and elevators and cars and hear, “Get into the groove boy you got to prove – your love to me…” I don’t love you M, but there is something freakin’ amazing about you that cannot be denied. You are a force, with big cahones!! Nothing stops you from putting your […]

Afraid to Shine

May 24, 2014 by nycredhead2021

Why is a gorgeous woman like this afraid to shine? A tattooed butterfly on her chest, pink pants and yet she says, “My girlfriends have shamed me into wearing color. I would never do it. People tell me I’m beautiful but I don’t believe it.” Girl, you’re breaking my heart. And when we put the red lipstick on her and nearly fell down in the blazing light from the shine and beauty that glowed from her face, she said, “uh-uh no. […]

Lost Values

May 8, 2014 by nycredhead2021

Is it old school or old fashioned to actually have values? Does anyone even give a shit about the right way to speak to someone? The tone. The actual caring in your way of asking or even more significant, telling someone anything. How you feel or how you’d like them to do something or change something – again, anything. I grew up with yelling. Sometimes mean, fuck-you, rah-rah shouting or other times just loud passionate opinionated rants about politics, or food, […]

Red lips rock and here’s why…

May 1, 2014 by nycredhead2021

There are simply gorgeous women that roll on the perfect shade of luscious crimson lipstick called “Corvette Red” or simply “Caliente” and they are just that — hot. And I love those ladies and I admire their bravado. But I started Rock That Red as a public, social experiment and campaign to enforce boldness in everyone. It’s about wearing red lips and nails for ten days – everywhere and seeing wtf happens. No other make-up required. It’s not about dressing up, it’s about being […]

Call me Emma… Emma Stone that is.

April 30, 2014 by nycredhead2021

Is it so wrong that today at 9:30 a.m., I felt that I was Emma Stone. Yes, actually her — me/her = 1. I always though she was cute and had a decent edge, but today was different. I was walking on the treadmill, holding 2 lb. weights and doing everything to firm and develop my arms, while watching Kelly and Michael do there, we found the perfect morning talk show chemistry ever and we’re wallowing in it, shtick.  They were […]

Spring.

April 19, 2014 by nycredhead2021

Spring is a powerful season. It literally brings joy. Some on the east coast don’t believe its coming back. In Los Angeles it’s Spring most of the year and like spoiled rich kids that have too much, except for maybe the Jacaranda trees blooming, we probably don’t appreciate the actual season as well… a season. Recently I was forced by my landlord to leave my apartment of 13 years. We had two great balconies, a view of the Hollywood hills […]

Branding my childhood

March 6, 2014 by nycredhead2021

Everyone has a Campbell’s soup story. I think that brand single-handedly saved moms from thinking they were giving their kids crap for after school snacks. Their tomato soup is probably the most famous and also the chicken noodle, but in our house it was Scotch Broth. It had meat and veggies and barley and my mom decided it was good for us. I mean it says “a hearty soup” right on the label! We’d come home after school take out […]
