Escapes from reality! We, none of us on this planet expected this virus to kick all of our butts this hard. Yes, some are working from home and staying in pjs or sweats all day, still making good money and ordering-in sushi, pizza, tacos, sometimes all on Tuesday. But many are stressed, scared, anxious, too fat, too skinny, too high, too drunk, exhausted, not sleeping, not getting out of bed or watching The Sopranos for the 10th time. Dare I admit “Love Island” was my last night’s cocktail when hubby fell asleep, oh and a spoon and pint of pistachio gelato.
But, I really do think escape is the key to sanity right now. Distract yourself for at least 30 minutes, twice a day. Call, not text, a good friend that you know will make you laugh. Talk about crap you did when you met. whether it’s high school shenanigans or what locker the coke was in during your night shift at the Hard Rock Cafe… or why in the hell did you sleep with that guy who you always said you couldn’t stand?! And yes, walk, zoom yoga, lift weights in the parking lot or garage with the new “trainer” your neighbor told you about. Take a break form the news, wear your masks in public, always… I mean sh*t, you drive on the right side of the road and stop at a red light, and took off your shoes and got strip searched at the airport after 911. BUT MAKE SURE YOU LAUGH EVERYDAY! WITH YOUR CAT OR DOG… OR KEVIN HART OR SEBASTIAN MANISCALCO… and feel no shame in needing and wanting to run away from this overwhelming life we are trying to get through. and yes… hug a stuffed animal often.
